Things To Do While In Quarantine

1. Make sure to get outside. Take a walk, a run, a bike ride, or a hike. Need a change of scenery? Drive to a different neighborhood to take a walk. If you have kids and you are avoiding playgrounds, make a list of treasures to find and go out looking (acorns, leaves, sticks, smooth rocks, etc.). Go puddle stomping.

2. Find indoor games or tasks that keep you moving inside when the weather is bad. You can always find a good workout video on YouTube. Clean something you have been neglecting. Organize a pantry or cupboard. If you have Alexa you can tell her to “open animal workout” which is great for young kids that are stuck inside that need to move. Turn up some of your favorite music and dance.

3. Need to stimulate your brain? Learn a new skill. Pretty much everything is on YouTube. You could learn to play the guitar, how to change your own oil, how to knit, how to do amazing hairstyles and braids, how to cut hair. Play a game. Have Alexa? Tell her to “open escape rooms”. It’s a fun game for the whole family. Do your taxes. Read a book!

4. Need to turn off your brain? Work on a 1000 piece puzzle. Do a yoga video. Try a guided meditation. Give yourself a free pass to watch some TV if you want to. Take a guilt free mid-day nap. Give yourself a manicure and pedicure. Take a bath. Give yourself a Klō facial!

5. Stay social. Call your friends and family. Call an old friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Use video chat. Have young kids? Invite a grandparent to read them a bedtime story on video chat (facebook video chat is very easy).

6. Make a goal to finish by the end of this. It could be anything; finish the puzzle, do 5 pull-ups, knit a scarf, do the splits, clean all of the baseboards.

We’re all in this together. Stay home. Do your best. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.
